Sextreme Statues (Update 22-08-2024)

Sextreme Statues

Starfield Edition

Description

This mod adds statues to the Decoration Panel for your Ship, Home, or Outpost interior. They have their own custom menu to make browsing easier, though it has a few problems right now—see Current Issues below. Every statue has 4 material options, with a mirrored version of each. There are currently 4 unique designs, giving you 32 different statues to pick from.

Collision Meshes

Every statue uses a collision mesh borrowed from a vanilla object, so you won’t walk straight through them. I picked the closest fit I could find, but some arms and legs still extend beyond it. If you’re taking cover behind one in a firefight, keep your head down: the upper half of the statue’s head has no collision coverage. You also can’t shoot between their legs. Not yet, anyway.

Custom Menu Icons

The menu names are still broken, but every menu and statue has a custom icon. Those should at least give you an idea of what you’ll find in each menu.

Material Options

Each statue is available in 4 materials, each intended to have its own menu. That menu setup isn’t working properly yet; see Current Issues.

Marble White Gold

Marble White Blue

Marble Black

Gold

Crafting a statue costs 2 pieces of Copper and one Structural object. The exception is the Gold version, which needs Gold instead of Copper. No surprises there.

I may change the textures and materials later. Originally, I wanted separate crafting requirements for each material, but I couldn’t find suitable resources for 4 different types of marble. That’s why they use Copper. I’m not entirely happy with the Gold finish either, and Marble Black might be a little too black. I’ll experiment with them for a while and see where things land.

Mirrored Versions

Every statue also comes in a mirrored version. Look for the categories ending in Mr—at least that bit works.

Mirrored statues use the same name as their normal counterpart, with ‘Mr’ added at the end.

Installation:

The recommended approach is to download the mod and install it through a mod manager.

For a manual installation, extract the file into your Data folder. You’ll also need to enable the mod in your load list through the in-game Creations menu.

Current Issues:

Collision Meshes

I wanted each unique statue to have its own custom collision mesh. Unfortunately, neither the current modding tools nor the CK support custom collision yet. When that support arrives, I’ll give every statue a mesh made for it. I don’t expect that update to cause problems or require you to reposition anything you’ve placed. For now, it’s a waiting game.

Custom Materials Menu.

The menu is a mess, frankly. Each category should display the material name of the statues inside it, with the mirrored categories using that same name followed by Mr. The Mr part does show up, but not for the reason you might think. Without getting technical, the menus are pulling their names from the first statue in their list rather than from the intended source. I’ve looked into it and spoken with a few people, and so far everyone has reached the same conclusion: this appears to be a CK bug. Until that’s fixed—or I figure out whether I’m doing something wrong—we’re stuck with the odd menu names.
