A short, general guide. Always follow the instructions on the mod’s own page first.
- Enable custom content. In the game: Options → Other → check “Enable custom content and mods” and “Script mods allowed”, then restart the game.
- Find your Mods folder. DocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4Mods. Create it if it does not exist.
- Unpack the download. Sims 4 mods use .package, .ts4script and tray files. Do not put zip archives into the folder.
- Keep the folder structure. Many mods need their subfolders copied as-is (for example Mods/WickedWhims).
- Install required frameworks first. Animations often need WickedWhims or similar frameworks — install them before animation packs.
- Restart the game and check the mods list in Options.
