How to install Fallout 4 mods

A short, general guide. Always follow the instructions on the mod’s own page first.

1. Use a mod manager such as Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex.
2. Install requirements first. Adult mods often need frameworks like AAF (Advanced Animation Framework) and F4SE — check the mod’s “Requirements” section.
3. Enable the plugins and keep frameworks above content mods in the load order.
4. Manual installs go to the Data folder (plugins, meshes, textures, scripts).
5. Start via F4SE when the framework requires it.
